“Stronger Together: Stronger Together: Building Resilience Through ACEs” with Nickie Gill, Lead Advocate at Beyond Survival
Thursday, May 22, 2025 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
(This is the final session of the 2024-2025 cycle.)
Via zoom! You will receive the link via email prior to the event.
Hard things happen in life—especially when we’re young. These early experiences, known as ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), can affect how we handle stress, connect with others, and our mental and physical health. But understanding ACEs isn’t about staying stuck in the past—it’s about finding ways to move forward with strength and support.
In this session, we’ll learn how our bodies and brains respond to trauma, and how we can build resilience over time. We’ll talk about everyday tools—like breathing techniques, setting boundaries, and asking for help—that can make a big difference. Together, we’ll create a space where teens and adults can connect, reflect, and support one another in building stronger, more hopeful futures.
We recommend having a paper and pencil on hand.

Nickie has a Bachelor's in Health and Human Services and has worked as an advocate for over 10 years. She started in the Parent-Child Assistance Program for pregnant mothers addicted to substances, later moving to a Sexual Assault Child Advocate position for the Children's Advocacy Center of Grays Harbor. When not working, she likes spending time with her family, hiking, and playing with dogs.
About Stronger Together:
Stronger Together is a restorative, multigenerational community and teen positive program for people 12+. Once a month, September to May, we gather around topics of importance to our community, such as self care, positive mental outlooks, and healthy relationships, share information and resources and create a space for learning from one another.
Thank you to Rayonier for your contribution in making these sessions free to our community!
